Winners of Smart Axiata’s UX/UI design shared their experience

On 19th November 2018, Smart Axiata organized an award ceremony to winners of its User Interface/User Experience Design Competition. The competition selected promising students skillful in UX/UI mobile app design; the best design should have come in various styles and be convinient for users. The top three places were selected from more than twenty students.

Mr. Sovorn CHEA, a senior student from the ParagonIU’s Management of Information Systems department and member to the first winning team, said that university students could apply for the competition individually or make up a team of two to join the competetion which took place on 10th November 2019. After one-whole day of designing, the top five designs were selected by the committee before being posted on Facebook to find the top three most popular designs which then made up the top three winning teams/candidates.  

Mr. Chhayheng CHIV, a year-five student majoring in Hydrology and Water Resource Engineering from Institute of Technology Cambodia as well as a member to Sovorn’s team, said that he always had an interest in the UX/UI design, although his major was not related to the field. By joining the competition, Chhayheng continued that he could showcase his skills and make new friends in the design field.

It should be noted that the first-winning team of the UX/UI Design Competition received an award of 1000USD. The second team received an award of 500USD. The third team received an award of 250USD. The three winning teams also won a package of Smart StreamOn 8 from Smart Axiata for one year, and after some negotiation, the opportunity to possibly work at the company too.
