Seminar on Stock Market for Investors and Business Owners

On 22^nd January 2019, Paragon International University hosted “Seminar on Stock Market for Investors and Business Owners” with lectures from distinguished guests from the Cambodia Stock Exchange (CSX), including H.E. Sohour HONG, CEO of CSX and Ms. Chanmony SOU, Director of the CSX’s Security Depository Department.

Dr. Sok Udom DETH, Rector of Paragon International University, showed his gratitude toward H.E. Sohour HONG for his initiation of the seminar so that ParagonIU students could acquire new knowledge about the stock exchange and Cambodia’s stock environment.

H.E. Sohour shared about the benefits for business owners when there is an environment for Initial Public Offering (IPO). With the IPO, business owners can expand their businesses with money from stock purchasers rather than from bank loans or venture capital, which might take some control of the businesses.

Ms. Chanmony SOU, Director of the Security Depository Department at CSX talked about the benefits of an investment in the security market. CSX could be a source for fund raising, a platform to heighten companies’ reputations, and also provide tax incentives. Investors could diversify their investments, and shareholders could increase shares of value and decrease risk.

In the question-and-answer session, H.E. Sohour answered a student’s question about how to find investors. His excellency said that students could seek funding from some foundations which could offer investment funds up to 10 million USD. He also mentioned that pitching at some co-working spaces is also possible if students aimed to raise funds limited to 20,000 USD.
